There are more than 3,000 peer reviewed studies on the spiritual benefits of meditation. However, many of these don’t have a cohesive website that compiles many researches into a comprehensive article, so instead, decided to fill the void by putting together a series of articles on this exciting topic.

These articles were written for the purpose of sharing the spiritual benefits of meditation with those who are interested and maybe looking for information on how they can start their own meditative practice. The goal of this article is not to convert anyone to a specific type of spiritual practice. Instead, it’s intended to present the overall benefits of meditation as a whole.

When it comes to spiritual benefits of meditation, there are many ways to look at this practice. Basically, it helps us become aware of our thoughts as well as the emotional and spiritual responses we experience as a result of those thoughts. Many people believe that meditation makes us more aware of our inner self. It helps us realize who we really are, as well as allow us to make changes in order to improve our overall well-being.

One of the most common ways that meditation helps us improve our well-being is through its ability to reduce stress. In fact, many spiritual healers consider stress to be one of the biggest causes of illness, as well as some forms of death. Stress and anxiety are the two biggest factors that contribute to heart disease, high blood pressure, as well as insomnia. Through the power of mindful breathing, stress reduction, anxiety reduction, and a better understanding of our physical and mental reactions to stressful situations, a person’s stress levels can be reduced to a healthy level. This is especially true when doing mindfulness meditation training, which can lead to better work functioning, better health, and happier relationships.

Manage And Eliminate Our Habitual Responses To Daily Stressors

A major goal for anyone who is interested in practicing meditation techniques is gaining a better understanding of their own body. Through proper breathing exercises, or guided imagery, meditation helps manage and eliminate our habitual responses to daily stressors, such as anger, anxiety, or depression. Many physicians, who recommend some form of meditation training, particularly in patients who are undergoing treatment for anxiety disorders, physical illnesses, or other medical concerns, believe that it can help manage or eliminate these symptoms.

For example, many spiritual healers believe that meditation improves sleep, increases alertness and energy, promotes better digestion, enables easier movement, and gives an increased sense of well-being. Meditators also report improvements in mood, mental clarity, better sleep, better concentration, and improved immune system functioning. Long-term meditators also report that they have greater control over anxiety and depression. Some long-term meditators have even gained complete control over their fears and anxieties and have been able to completely eliminate them from their lives.

The Impact Of The Practice On Stress Reduction And Management

Another area where research is currently being conducted to discover the spiritual benefits of meditation is the impact of the practice on stress reduction and management. Some scientists believe that meditation helps us focus, increase attention, reduce stress, improve immune system function, decrease pain, lower blood pressure, increase relaxation, enhance sleep, lower cholesterol, and reduce the risk of developing numerous illnesses and diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, depression, diabetes, asthma, and cancer.

Some research indicates that meditators may even experience a heightened sense of well-being, a reduction in symptoms of depression, and a decreased risk of acquiring chronic diseases such as arthritis and hypertension. Further research is being conducted to determine how the spiritual elements of meditation affects the various systems of the body and to determine the extent to which meditation contributes to the prevention of certain diseases and conditions.

Overall Health And Quality Of Life Have Greatly Improved

Currently there are no research studies that document the spiritual elements of meditation specifically. However, many long-time meditators have confirmed that their overall health and quality of life have greatly improved as a result of their regular practice of meditation. Many noted an overall sense of calm, harmony, optimism, vitality, positive outlook, vitality, happiness, strength, resilience, and joy. Several of these authors stated that they could not attribute this positive change in themselves or their lives to any one thing, but a combination of the natural results of practicing meditation on a daily basis.

In addition, a number of the participants who were diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, cancer, or other life threatening diseases did note a reduction in their severity of illness after they began a period of daily meditation. Some of the medical professionals added that, if it was not for their regular practice of meditation and related activities, they may have been facing a very different prognosis had it not been for the addition of these individuals to their health care teams.

In this vein, the spiritual nature of meditative prayer has also been found to provide the support necessary for the healing of some diseases, such as those associated with cancer and heart disease. Ongoing research is examining the relationship between meditation and psychological and physical health. While much more research is needed to fully understand the physiological aspects of this connection, the present studies are suggesting that there may be a positive connection between these two aspects of life. For example, mindfulness meditation may help reduce the feelings and emotions that lead to pain during times of physical discomfort. Meditative prayer has been shown to positively affect moods and emotions, which, in turn, has been positively associated with the reduction of some types of pain and emotional suffering.
